Local Priorities

Scrambler bike during the weekend period causing anti-social behaviour continues to be a priority for the area

Issued: 3 Mar 2026

Status Update

Local policing officers, newly assigned to the area following the recent force restructure and uplift at Newton‑le‑Willows Police Station, have been focusing on familiarising themselves with the community, key locations, and the individuals involved in these issues.
As lighter evenings and summer months approach, officers will be increasing their proactive patrols and working to develop intelligence around those responsible for persistent nuisance riding. This includes identifying hotspots, gathering information from residents, and building a clearer picture of the offenders who continue to blight the community. This intelligence‑led approach will support future enforcement activity and targeted problem‑solving to reduce the impact on local people.

Scrambler and e-bikes use in the area for drug supply and causing anti-social behaviour

Issued: 18 Sep 2025

Status Update

Local policing officers continue to work cross border with neighbouring forces to combat issues with off-road bike ASB and drug dealing. Investigations led to the identification and arrest of a male from the Billinge area committing offences in Greater Manchester on a off-rode bike and returning to the area. He is currently on bail for possession with intent to supply following enquiries into suspected stolen motorbikes at an address in Billinge.

Scrambler bikes and e-bikes causing anti-social behaviour over the summer months.

Issued: 27 Jun 2025

Status Update

Local policing officers have been working cross boarder with Lancashire Constabulary to combat cross boarder issues of off-road bike ASB. Investigations highlighted people travelling from other areas causing issues. Multi agency meeting held and activities to combat the issue under the operation name of Op Gears commenced. Officers have deployed on Police Quad and e-bikes, further deployments by specialised Roads Policing Unit on scrambler bikes also policed the area. This acted as a visible deterrent. Deployments continue through the summer plan until the end of September.
